Today, we are going to take at look at, who or what is the dragon mentioned in the book of Revelation. Let's begin with
Revelation 12:9 “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
From the above scripture we know that the dragon mentioned in Revelation Chapter 12 is no one other than Satan himself. But let’s not forget the last sentence of this verse, “…and his angels were cast out with him.” Where were they cast out? They were cast out from heaven. Now, this last sentence is where you get the term “fallen angels”. You hear about individuals writing books and doing lectures on fallen angels they will usually refer to this scripture as well as Genesis Chapter 6.
We know that the dragon, (Satan) is not actually going to look like a physical red dragon having seven heads, ten horns and seven crowns. As we read in the third verse of the 12th chapter. So if anyone is actually looking for a physical red dragon those will be the individuals who are deceived first. For we know that Satan is going to appear unto the entire world as a—man.
Is Satan here already? He most certainly is and Yeshua/Jesus tells us in John 12:31 , “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.” We know that the phrase “prince of this world” is another name for Satan. Yeshua/Jesus is not the prince of this world. He will be the King of His established kingdom, the New Jerusalem, when we reign with him a thousand years. Revelation 20:6. Now, don’t get confused from the next verse, verse 7 which reads, “And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison.” This is after the battle at Armageddon, and after Yeshua/Jesus declares himself as King of Kings and Lord of Lord’s, this happens after the second resurrection, and this is the second death. Therefore, don’t get confused by the 7th verse, it doesn’t happen until all those things that I just mentioned occur.
Many people are still waiting for Satan to come to this world. If you just take a look around you, you can see clearly that Satan and his angels are already here. This is Satan’s kingdom. We live in a world of chaos and confusion. And we know that our Father is not the author of confusion. Satan is already here in the form of a man. His angels are already here in the form of man or in the form of a woman. We know from scripture that Satan and his angels will have the appearance of a human being. They are already here deceiving the world, getting everybody conditioned.
Remember, the whole world is deceived except our Father’s elect, so remember that. I have a feeling that God’s elect are listening and taking in this information and if you are, you are probably one of God’s elect and He doesn’t want you getting confused or deceived in these last days. Because Satan will be cunning, show miraculous signs and wonders, and will woo the crowd and if it were possible even God’s elect, he’s just that good. He will have God’s elect think twice about him and his angels, but since we’re sealed in the Word he won’t be able to woo us.
That’s why you have to be awake in these days, don’t fall asleep spiritually. If you spend the majority of your time in the cares of this world, with shopping, reading frivolous novels, watching reality shows, watching or playing video games or the like, you’re going to be swayed without a doubt. It’s okay to do those things but it shouldn’t be what you live for, it shouldn’t be what you get excited about. In other words, it shouldn’t be the topic for the entire day.
The Dragon’s Characteristics
The dragon, known as Satan, is the man who gives the beast his power and authority and his seat. The majority of the people also worship the dragon. They worship the dragon because it is him that reveals to the whole world that he is the Messiah. The world was deceived by great wonders and miracles. Let’s look at Revelation 13:13 and it reads, “And he doeth great wonders so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.” Now, people would not have seen these miracles before and they will be in awe. So think about it, if you see a man bringing fire down from heaven claiming to be the true Messiah, you’re going to be deceived.
Now let’s continue with verse 14, “And he deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by the sword, and did live.” We see from this verse that he deceives those that dwell on the earth; however, go back to verse 8 we see that he deceives all whose names are written in the book of life of the Lamb.
*If you don’t remember anything else from this teaching remember this: The antichrist comes first. If you don’t remember the order of the seals, the trumpets, the vials, remember the antichrist comes first, posing as the Messiah. How do we know the antichrist comes first? Because the scriptures tells us, Yeshua/Jesus has told us in Mark 13:21, 22; Matthew 24:5 We know that Yeshua/Jesus is going to come with the sound of a loud trumpet with his angels, and the heavens and the earth will shake there will be a great and mighty shaking, Mark 13:25-27; Matthew 24:31; I Thessalonians 4:16; and Revelation 6:12. It won’t be a secret when Yeshua/Jesus returns to this earth. The other clue is, if we are still in our flesh bodies Yeshua/Jesus has not returned to this world. It is a false messiah. We will be in our celestial bodies when He returns to this world.
Now, we know that Satan, referred to as the dragon, is currently here on this earth with his angels. They resemble the image of a human being. The dragon gives the beast his seat, power and authority. The beast is one of Satan’s angels. One of the dragon’s purposes is to make war with the saints and the elect, Revelation 12:17. His other purpose is to deceive the whole world into worshiping him, which he almost does except for our Father’s elect. The dragon can do great signs, wonders and miracles. He has supernatural powers that he will do in the sight of men. Lastly, the dragon will raise up the beast make him look really awesome, causing all to worship the beast’s image. Remember, the majority of the people on earth, will be worshiping the image of the beast, and worshiping the dragon or Satan himself because they will think that he is the Messiah. So they will be worshiping what the beast does; but worshiping who they think the dragon is.
Since we are in the last days it is very important that you study end time prophecy. I know a lot of people don’t want to hear or read about doom and gloom; however, it can be the difference in you being thrown into the lake of fire or spending eternity with our Messiah in His kingdom. A lot of believers will miss the mark. There will be a lot of good people and Christians in the lake of fire. Not because they were bad people, but because they were ignorant to our Father’s Word. Our Father tells us in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou has rejected knowledge…” We also read in Deuteronomy 32:29, “O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!”
We want to be wise in these days. You know you have some very stubborn individuals who know what they know and don’t want to learn anything else. They study the writings of Paul and the other nice things of the Bible and more than likely they will be the ones who will be deceived and lead their families and friends astray. To put it bluntly, don’t get a big head because you know the book of Psalms, Proverbs, Hebrews or the epistles of Paul. Those books, although good, won’t keep you from being deceived. Don’t get a big head because you’re a supervisor, CEO, deacon, elder, or pastor for many years, or because you’re pushing 50, 60, 70 or 80 years old you know everything.
In closing, a good teacher is also teachable. A wise student is always studious. A good disciple is a wise learner. A wise learner is an obedient follower of the Messiah. An obedient follower has the seal of the Word of their heavenly Father in their forehead. Those who have the seal are the ones who are not deceived. Those who are not deceived have their names written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Those who have their name written in the book of life can enjoy life eternal with our Messiah Yeshua/Jesus Christ.
