Prayer and the Portals of Heaven

From the Desk of Sister Abigail

Kneeling Before God

This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!

When I was a little girl, my grandmother would pray, by keeling down over the bed. She would be so engrossed in prayer, that she wouldn't even know that I had entered the room and knelt down by the bed beside her. I'd stay there, say a short prayer of whatever was on my youthful mind at the time, then remain silent until she finished. When my grandmother was finished, she surprisingly looked over at me, would smile the biggest smile and say, “How long have you been in here?” I'd smile back. Then she'd give me a kiss, and we'd arise from our knelt position and go on about our day.

I did this often as a child, but somewhere along the line... that stopped. But today, on this day, upon awakening, I was reminded of my grandmother. Those memories of her praying by the bed filled my mind as if it occurred yesterday. I then got out of bed and turned around, and knelt on the bed to pray as I did so many years ago. On this day, I started my day by kneeling under the heavens and what a refreshing day it was!

Oftentimes, the traditions of man, take us away from the path of what we know in our hearts lead to God. Perhaps we have become so accustomed to standing in the presence of the Lord, raising our heads and hands to the sky in admiration of our Lord. But what happened to the verses regarding, “Every knee shall bow...”?

Romans 14:11, “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue confess to God.”

Philippians 2:10-11, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth: And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Isaiah 45:23, “I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return. That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall take an oath.”

Our ancestors had no trouble kneeling before the Lord, kneeling under the heavens. You might say, “Sister Abigail, my knees hurt. I have bad knees.” Perhaps that may be because you're not kneeling before God in prayer. Selah.

Brothers and sisters, Jesus' yoke is easy. He said to cast our cares and burdens upon him for His burdens are light [Matthew 11:30]. Then straightway it occurred to me, while I was kneeling before the Lord this morning, that when I knelt down, my load came down with me to the ground, or to the floor I should say; but when I rose up, my burden was light!

Many people pray. As a matter of fact, many people pray everyday, even throughout the day. Could it be possible that kneeling before God is the respect, honor, faith and humility needed to rid away of all our vices? Could kneeling before God be the key to opening the doors of heaven. As well as answer all prayers, and heal every manner of sickness and disease, and gladly rejoice in the day at hand?

Psalm 118:24, “This is the day the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

In the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

The End of the Age is Near

Message from the Desk of Sister Abigail

Seek the Lord While He May Be Found

As the end of this age, the age as we know it today, quickly begins to come to a close, it is especially imperative that we diligently seek the Lord with all our heart, mind and soul, while the Lord can still be found; while we can openly read our Bibles and while we can go to a place of worship and give glory and praise to the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Isaiah 55:6, tells us to “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.”

There is going to come a time when many will seek the Lord, even seek the presence of the Lord and they will not be able to find him. We are closing in on the coming of that day. For once God's hand has been lifted up, which many refer to as the restrainer, the wicked one will be revealed, and the earth as we know it today will suddenly go dark. Not dark as in appearance, but a spirit of darkness and deception will cover the entire earth.

It is a time when the anti-Christ will have his ruling for 3 ½ years. As he rules, it is going to be challenging for those who did not go in the rapture to worship God. During the time of the anti-Christ, saints will be running for their lives. They will be pilgrims on the land. They will be secretly worshiping God, and many will be martyred for their faith.

Why are they martyred for their faith? Because many did not seek the Lord during the time of warnings and as a result they missed the rapture. Now, they refuse to take the mark of the beast; for they have finally come into the truth after witnessing the deception upon the face of the earth, and after witnessing those taken in the rapture. Now, these same saints have accepted Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, and as a result, they will be martyred.

Revelation 14:13, “And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them,”

These saints who died after the first resurrection, which is after the rapture, when the dead in Christ rose first, will only be judged according to their works as we read in Revelation 20:12, “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”

These saints will not be raised until after the 1,000 years, also known as the millennium, are finished. Revelation 20:5, “But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished...”

My friends, these saints witnessed the rapture and they saw Christ appear in the clouds. So when they go unto the great white throne of judgment, they are no longer judged according to their faith, but rather according to their works because they saw the Lord in the clouds. Remember, Revelation 1:7, tells us that every eye shall see him. Thus, once you see, faith is no longer required, because you know now that everything that you have read and heard from Christians was in fact... truth.

John 20:29, “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou has believed: blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed.”

For all of you reading or listening to this message, now is the time to seek the Lord and trust in the Lord while he still can be found. He wants a relationship with you. Talk with him. Walk with him and accept him as your personal Lord and Savior. Don't wait for tomorrow or next week, for those days are not promised. The time is now.

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God bless you all. Stay safe, wise and prayerful in these days that are upon us.

I'm Tired of Waiting for Jesus

Is it this year? Next year?

Many of you are awaiting the return of Jesus Christ, and some of you are getting very weary as the time draws nearer. Don't give up the fight to overcome the many challenges of this world.  Don't give up on the promises of Christ. Don't give up on love and never get tired of doing good as the Apostle Paul writes in Galatians 6:9, “Let us not grow weary while doing good; for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.”

The Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon to gather his bride, and we will have the most spectacular marriage supper that has never been had before. "Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb..." Revelation 19:9.

As you know, it is not in the Father's will for anyone to perish (II Peter 3:9), but for all to come to repentance and experience that glorious place that he has prepared for us. No eye has seen and no imagination can fathom what the heavenly Father has prepared for us.

In the meantime, the enemy is laying many tricks and many distractions that lead to conversations and focuses away from Jesus Christ our Lord: racism, bigotry, finances and wealth, wars and rumors of wars, political affairs and scandals, but as followers of Jesus Christ, we know these matters exist in the world. This should not be a surprise for those of us whom are watching and diligently seeking the Lord, for we are in this world, but not of this world.

When those who are distracted by the affairs of the world, the lusts and cares therein, they feed into all these matters and more. But we are followers of Jesus the Christ, and rather than feed the lusts of the world, we feed ourselves with the wisdom and knowledge of Jesus Christ and the wisdom and knowledge of the heavenly Father. These are the aspects that separate us from the many people of the world. Therefore, we are to be diligent, kind to one another, focusing on the love and light within a person and not judging or making assumptions by their physical appearance or personal status in life.

Beloved, don't lose faith. There are many mockers in the world today, plenty of mockers in the world. But we are not to focus on these mockers, but rather remember and focus on the love and promises that Jesus has for us and knowing that he is a friend indeed.

Followers of Christ, continue to strengthen one another and comfort one another, storing up for yourselves treasures in the kingdom of heaven, rather than storing up treasures in the earth, where moth and dust inhabit them, as we read in Matthew 6:19-20, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through and steal.”

Jesus is coming quickly. For in the blink of an eye, everything will change, and we will live in a new glorious, and incorruptible body in the kingdom of God forever and ever.

Revelation 3:21, “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”

Your redemption draws near. Watch and stay alert. Jesus is coming soon!

Why Do You Pray

Taken from the series entitled, Lunch with Jesus

Liza is a non-believer, yet curious. Kate is a Christian to the heart. She loves God with all her mind, heart, body and soul. On this particular day, Liza was reading a magazine and when she turned to the next page, the membership form fell out of it. So Liza reached down to the floor to pick it up. On her way up she glanced at Kate and noticed she was praying. She waited for her to finish, then politely walked over to her and said, "Hi Kate, may I ask you something?"

"Sure," she replied.

"Why do you pray?" Liza asked.

"Prayer is my method of connecting with God. I thank him for continuing to allow me to breathe. I thank him for my family. I thank him for the day. And I thank him for my food. Then a scripture will come to mind, such as today, Psalm 118:24, "This is the day, the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." Then I dwell for a moment on that verse and say, Amen."

"And you do this each time over a meal, even a snack like today?" Liza asked.

"Yes, I do, "Kate continued, "but not just over a meal. I do this throughout the day, everyday. Throughout the day I connect with God. My relationship with God is important. He's my strength, my joy, my comfort, my healer and Jesus is my salvation. Many times when you see me filing forms or typing on the computer, I'm thinking about the Lord's goodness and mercy."

"Oh, okay," Liza said. "That's all I wanted to ask. See you back in the office."

The next day, Liza had another question for Kate and Kate kindly answered. And the next day Liza had another question... and Kate answered again. The next day, Liza asked Kate if she could join her for lunch. Kate graciously invited her to join her.

For the next seven weeks, Kate and Liza spent their lunch, as well as their breaks, talking about the Lord and reading scriptures. Six weeks later, Liza was baptized and now accepts Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior.

Matthew 18:20, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them."

As Christians we want to always be ready to give an answer as to why we have made Jesus our Lord and Savior. We should always be ready to give an answer as to why we do the things that we do in the Lord.

Oftentimes, many Christians want to bombard people with their beliefs and many miss the mark and turn people away from the faith because the focus was not on God, but what you thought they should be doing and how they should be believing. The focus turned into you and your judgments and not on the Lord.

As followers of Christ, we are to be the light of the world. Matthew 5:14 reads, "You are the light of the world, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden." We are the light of the world, not condemners of the world.

As we read in John 3:16-19, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

Jesus has already told us what a non-believers condemnation is. Jesus didn't condemn people to hell as we see and hear a lot of Christians doing today. And this method of converting others to the faith, does not work, rather it turns people away from you and the faith and your God.

We are to be the light of the world, not condemning and pointing fingers at others. Be a light and let your light shine among men. Let your light shine in darkness. And be ready to give an answer when it comes to you and your relationship with your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. You don't have to preach during this time, but let your personal relationship and your love for Christ shine through you, your words, your actions and your spirit.

Until next time,
