Christians vs. The World

There are many people in our world today, that are facing many life altering problems. From sleep disorders, eating disorders, depression, mood swings, ADHD, terminal illnesses, and a variety of others. However, where is all of this stemming from? We live in a society that is highly technical, fashionable, fast, and fury. From cell phones and laptops; to fashion shows and luxury homes; to expensive cars, and road rage. The minds are filled with reality shows, dating shows, violent and sexual movies, court television, inappropriate language, and a host of other shows that don't promote love, intelligence, a God-fearing nation, respect for others, and respect for ourselves. It's no wonder why there are so many illnesses and pure rage in the world today. One might say that our society is on the brink of a nervous breakdown.

One might ask, "Why are Christians suffering with these issues?" The truth is--they haven't divorced the world yet. You have to detach yourself from the "norm." That doesn't mean lock yourself in a closet or remain in your home 24/7; however, try turning off the television or finding a station that is in accordance with Yahweh's word. It's not the end of the world if you don't upgrade your technology or buy a new car when the old one is working fine. You will begin to notice when your mind is clear from the lusts and cares of the world, that your days are longer, your stress is minimal to none; your health is excellent, your words are loving; your sleep is sound; your thoughts are of intellect; and you're never ever bored.

When you decide to give your life to Yeshua, letting him direct your path, you must put aside old habits, old ways, and old traditions that do not coincide with our heavenly Father's word. For example, if a person has decided to give their life to Yeshua, engaging in fornication, pornography, or X-rated movies, on any level, is not living according to the word of our heavenly Father. We know from scripture passages, such as I Corinthians 6:18 states, "Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body?" Your body is a temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you. Meaning--your body does not belong to you, it belongs to Yahweh.

Now, if you look at some of the other habits, such as judging others, quick tongues, and gossiping, we can assume that many individuals do not see those as serious issues. However, if you are quick to judge, always looking for the secret, spreading the news, or in the midst of the latest news, you may want to pray to our heavenly Father asking him to deliver you from this notion of always having to be-in-the-know. Busy-bodies are always busy, buzzing their days away.

Now, let's take a look at what the Bible says about gossiping. It's only gossip, not a big deal! Well, Proverbs 6:16-19 states, "These six things doth the Lord hate...a lying tongue...A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethern." Scriptures make it very evident that our heavenly Father appreciates peacemakers. Those that are swift to spread the latest news are not promoting peace rather strife amongst others.

But what does the Bible say about judging others? I mean--that outfit really was tacky! Hmm, let's find out. I Corinthians 6:13 reads, "But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore, put away from among yourselves that wicked person." Yahweh is the only one that can judge and wants us to distance from those who judging wicked spirit.

In closing, if you live your life as if Yeshua was standing beside you, would you really engage in activities that were not pleasing to him? Sometimes the company that you keep will keep you from reaching eternal salvation. It is perfectly okay, as well as scriptural to distance yourselves from those who do not, and are not attempting, to live according to Yahweh's word. Once you become stronger in your faith, and in your relationship with Yahweh, certain comments and actions from others will not phase you as much, and soon not at all. It is hard to live righteously in an unrighteous world. Always remember, our heavenly Father, not you or your pastor, is the only one who can lead you on the straight and narrow path.

Stay in prayer. Shalom.
