Between Time and Eternity

Many of us whisper a prayer in the morning. Many of us bow our heads again before bed. But what about the hours in between? The in-between is where life presses hardest. The notifications. The headlines. The arguments. The rising costs. The health scares. The rumors. The endless stream of voices demanding attention. Virus on one side. Violence, on the other hand. Anxiety in the middle. What will I eat? What will I wear? Should I stock up? Should I prepare for collapse? Should I panic quietly? In the noise, we forget the simplest prayer: Father, I’m here. Not rushing. Not rehearsing fear. Just present. Jesus anticipated our distracted hearts. In Matthew 6:33–34 He says: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow… Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” There will be evil in each day. He did not deny that. But he refused to let it rule us. God does not place people in our lives randomly. Every connection carries weight. Some arrive like sunlight—steady encouragement, gentle correction, holy motivation. They stir something higher in us. They remind us who we are in Christ. They challenge us to grow. Others arrive as a test. Not every smile is an assignment. Not every opportunity is a blessing. Some relationships measure our obedience. Some conversations expose our loyalty. Some invitations reveal whether we value approval from people more than alignment with God. And here is the humbling truth: we are also sent into the lives of others. Sometimes we are the encouragement. Sometimes we are the warning. Sometimes we are the lesson. Sometimes we are the test. God may position you in someone’s life to strengthen their faith—or to reveal the condition of their heart.
