The Mezuzah
The day is fast approaching when
the United States of America
will be judged. There is a day fast approaching when God’s judgment will pass
through the land
of America. This judgment
will consist of plagues, death and famine. When that day comes we as believers
want to make sure that we are spiritually under the Word of God and walking a
faithful walk and covered under the blood of Jesus; thus, when destruction
comes to America it will Passover
those of us who have prepared ourselves with the Word of God.
Now, let’s take a look at the
Mezuzah. The Hebrew word, “Mezuzah” translates as “doorpost,” and refers to the
handwritten parchment scroll within. Some mistakenly refer to the Mezuzah as
the case which holds the scroll. However, it is the scroll within the case
which states the following scripture:
Deuteronomy 6:4, 5, 9, “Hear, O Israel: The
LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD they God with all thine
heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And thou shalt write them
upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”
Throughout the Bible we see our
heavenly Father giving us pertinent instructions as a sign of our faithful devotion to Him. So many times we as believers and followers
of Jesus read right over a passage and do not completely understanding the
message given to us.
As we read in Exodus 12:12, 13, 23 “For I will pass through the land of Egypt
this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and
beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the
LORD. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are:
and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be
upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the
blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the
door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite
you.”
The Israelites who had the blood
on the posts were spared from the destroyer. As it was in the beginning so
shall it be in the end. Our heavenly Father does not do differently from what
He has done in the past. Some of our actions might be slightly different since
Jesus became our sacrifice; however, the Word still stands.
Today, we will not use the blood
of an animal because Jesus became our blood. Thus, we will not use the blood of
an animal during God’s judgment on the land, for His word, Deuteronomy 6:4, 5 also referred to as the Shema, is the
representation of the blood of Jesus and our faith in Him.
Have you ever wondered why
certain homes get destroyed in a storm and others are left fully intact?! As if
the storm destroyed the house on the left, the house on the right, the house in
the front and the house behind them, and passed over their home. This isn’t a
coincidence by far there’s a reason why certain homes are passed over during a
storm.
As we take time and read our
Father’s Words He said, “…write them upon thy posts…” many have been lead to
believe that there is a certain type of way this has to be written and only can
be written by a certain scribe and it has to be on a certain type of parchment
paper, handwritten with a certain type of ink, placed in a case to fulfill the
commandment and affixed at an angle.
This ownership of how those things not mentioned in the Bible should be,
has really gotten out of hand; thus, becoming more traditionalized than
anything else. Which is exactly what Jesus was trying to steer us away
from—yes, man’s traditions. These traditions sound more like the work of the
Pharisees rather than followers of Jesus the Christ. The commandment states,
“…write them upon thy posts…”
There are also some who pass
through a doorway where a Mezuzah has been affixed glances at it, then touches
it, and some kiss their finger tips and then touch the Mezuzah as a reminder
throughout the day that God is always with them.
I don’t remember reading any of
that in scriptures. God never told us to do any of that. Those are simply mere
traditions of man making it appear that a certain group or individual has
authority, is favored, or knows more than those who faithfully love our Father
and His Son, and read the Word, try to live according to the Word and know for
a fact that God is with them and
loves them.
Now some of you may have thought,
“But those instructions were for the Israelites only.” Let me assure you, that
if you are a follower of Jesus the Christ then the above instructions are for
you as well. For two reasons: If you are a believer that makes you spiritual Israel and number two: in these
final days our Father is saving a remnant
of His chosen people.
Nobody knows for sure if they are
the remnant of Israel.
Many have speculated; however, we know from Revelation
2:9 that many claim to be Jews and in fact they are not. “I know thy works,
and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of
them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.”
This verse says quite a lot; for
there aren’t many nationalities saying with authority that they are Jews. This
will be quite interesting when we discover who in fact the real Jews are. For
we know from this verse that the ones claiming to be Jews are not. And because
the Book of Revelation is not a typical book that most Christians will
gravitate to; therefore, this verse gets overlooked.
If you have chosen to have the
Mezuzah on your door posts as a sign of your faithful love and walk with our
heavenly Father and His Son Jesus the Christ what a marvelous and righteous
decision you have made.
Contrary to popular belief, the
writing on the posts does not necessarily designate the house as Jewish but
rather as believers in the Holy
Bible, and as believers in the God of
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and as believers
in Jesus the Christ no matter what nationality you are.
If you prefer to write the
scripture yourself on the paper of your choice, that is fine. If you prefer to
decorate your own Mezuzah demonstrating your devotion and your walk in the
faith, that is fine as well. If you choose to order a Mezuzah, that is fine
too. If you choose to literally write the passages on your door posts and on
your gates, that is fine also. As long as your faith and customs coincide with
the Word of God and not man’s traditions who has the authority to say
otherwise.
Let your light shine with all
diligence and faith covered under the blood of Jesus the Christ.
